I checked the website that my teacher told us to use (i really don't remember what it was called) and i saw an owl that was screen-printed. I saw that and immediately wanted to do a stencil of Guardians of Gahoole's Soren, the barn owl (I meant the movie not the books, sorry!) and that is exactly what i did, i spray painted the fire and the moon and then did Soren. This is from the final battle scene in the movie after Soren got the fire.

So here is another pick 2 of some of my favorite pieces so far.
The first is a stencil of Over The Garden Walls' Wirt. I have got to say I love this one because i thought it was going to turn out terribly and as you can see it turned out pretty great! The next one i actually did in the first or second week of school and I love it because of how much detail and time I put into it. The skull is actually one of a bull that died for food? Mrs. Sudkamp can correct me if I'm wrong but that is what i thought she said. I decided for my 2 in 1 project that i would do Gravity Falls characters as different mythological creatures, so i did Stanford (the real one)as a harpy, Dipper as a Cervitaur, Mabel as a mermaid, Wendy as a Werewolf, Pacifica as Medusa, Grenda as a Octopus/human thing, and Stanly (grunkle Stan) a gargoyle.
I took inspiration from the Gravity Falls AU Monster Falls. Yay im done with this!! I am so proud of myself for doing this. So i got the time period Post Impressionism which included Vincent Van Goh, so of course I chose him most famous work 'starry night. I had to combine this with a character from a T.V. show, as my favorite T.V. show i had to choose a character from Gravity Falls. I wondered which character would be there and then I figured; of course Mabel would be there!, and i got my character. Then i used oil pastel to make the swirls and the stars. (The swirls took me a whole class period (90 minutes)) i then did mabel in oil pastel and attempted to shade it. Then i did a presentation with my group and i presented my picture. I drew a picture of one of my best friends but it turned out really well so i wanted to show you guys. I struggled with getting her eyes and her lips right but I FINALLY got it right. Its Friday so i made a drawing in my sketchbook for the word 'people'. I was inspired by the song 'everything is alright' by lauren shigihara from the rpg game 'to the moon'. Dont go play it, it is sad... Anyways the song is beautiful and sad but creates amazing imagery. I struggled with the branches on the tree and how to position my person. So i was scrolling through Colossal and i saw a very interesting post that caught my eye; a japanese artist making skulls out of pearls for jewelry! Shinji Nakaba is a japanese artist and jeweler making skulls out of pearls for a living. This caught my eye because it seemed very out of place in an art website so i quickly read the description and was amazed. Nakaba has inspired me because he has taken a small object already beautiful and have made it into a piece of art. this is his website: http://work.s-nakaba.com/ |
